I Want You is the Latin flavoured new single from Welsh singer/songwriter Jem, taken from the album Down To Earth. The single is produced by Lester Mendez whose impressive resume includes Shakira, Santana and Nelly Furtado, so the Latin influence should perhaps be expected.

A sexy song of seduction and heavy lust, Jem says the inspiration is not necessarily autobiographical, but simply a “vision of two people meeting on the dance floor, and basically wanting to ravish each other right there.”

“My first version of that song was so sexy, it was ridiculous,” laughs Jem. “We really had to reel it in.”

The video is directed by Jem, her directorial debut and features her fiance Joseph MeNdicino, British actor Rik Young and her brother Yestyn. Jem says that the video tells the story from the male perspective although the song is obviously from the female view.

If the voice sounds familiar it is worth knowing that the album Down To Earth is one of the most synchronised in America this year, with placements in Sex & The City movie, CSI Miami,  Gossip Girl,  One Tree Hill,  The Mentalist,  Medium,  Ghost Whisperer, Beverley Hills 90210, trailing the movie Julie and Julia starring Meryl Streep  and most recently, in the series finale of the award winning TV show The Damages  starring Glenn Close.

Marisa Baldi of Zync Music explains: “Jem’s music has always been perfect for licensing – it touches on such universal emotions and always gives a scene just the right tone, hooking you instantly – she is certainly one of the most frequently licensed artists out there. Songs from ‘Down to Earth’ have been all over film and TV because the songs are fantastic and make you FEEL!”
