According to a report in Now magazine troubled singer Britney Spears may be given an opportunity to redeem herself at this years MTV Video Music Awards.

Britney opened the proceedings last year with a lip-synched performance of Gimme More, but appeared in dreadful shape and her performance was slated as an ‘embarrassment’. The report suggests that organisers of the bash are ready to give Spears a chance to redeem herself at this years show.

A ’source’ told Now, “Britney’s transformation has been dramatic. After last year, when she turned up to the VMAs and put on an amateur show, we’ve got high hopes that she’ll really impress this year.”

The MTV Video Music awards take place on September 7th and will be hosted by Russell Brand.
