Roxanne de Bastion is unleashing her debut self-titled EP on the UK this summer and, to prepare her fans, she’s heading out on a European tour. She debuted in New York last September, before coming back to wow audiences at some of England’s most prestigious venues such as The Cavern Club, The 100 Club, The Barfly (Camden), as well as The Garage and has recently finished touring with Nik Kershaw.

Roxanne de Bastion grew up in Berlin where she began her love affair with music and performance at the tender age of ten. She moved over to the UK in 2007, equipped only with a guitar and a one-way ticket, and she’s never looked back. Her previous single One Morning was accompanied by an enchanting video, shot in her hometown of Berlin, and was extremely well received by BBC 6 Music.

This self-titled EP is characterised by its laid back, minimalist guitar and intelligent lyrics shaped by Roxanne de Bastion’s enchanting voice, creating a whimsical landscape littered with video game references, introspection and an underlying current of innocence that allows her to deliver some incredible lyrical barbs. This is an impressive collection of vocally driven compositions and, much like her stylistic influences (Bob Dylan and Regina Spektor), they demand the listener’s undivided attention for Roxanne’s masterful song writing skills to take full effect.

“Was really lovely recording the video for ‘The Baker’ with Jo on Friday. We were blessed with the sunshine, only thing was our chairs kept falling through the holes between the stones on the beach so there were a few giggles, as always.”

‘The Baker‘ is the second in the series of nine videos, the first release was ‘The Real Thing‘, the title track from her forthcoming album.

Groucutt & Haynes release their brilliant new single Rain on March 14th, the track is taken from the duo’s debut album, originally released back in September 2009.

Having established themselves on the smaller festival’s circuit during 2010, appreciation of the album, Another Good Reason has gradually become more widespread.

The single Rain is a wonderful jazzy, Latin influenced track, funky and uplifting the track features the laid back vocals that have drawn comparisons in the past to Jack Johnson.

Robin Groucutt and Dan Haynes have developed a brilliantly tight sound on this track, flashes of Steely Dan at their smoothest, springing to mind it really is a brilliant single.

A real track for the summer, Rain is released on March 14th.

Here is video clip of Groucutt & Haynes performing a quite different unplugged version of the track Rain, recorded during rehearsals.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich caused quite a stir when he released the beautiful debut EP A Million Miles Out towards the end of 2010 and while there was talk of a full length album being in the pipeline for the Spring, the singer/songwriter will instead release a follow up EP on March 7th through the label Dirty Hit.

The York born and bred singer has led a somewhat nomadic life thus far, with parents descending from Australia and South Africa Leftwich considers himself at home in Sydney as much as he does London, while his previous EP was written in the secluded countryside of Southern France.

The latest EP, Pictures is produced by Ian Grimble as was his debut EP, and once again showcases the young singers’ flair for delicate and beautiful songwriting.

From the deft finger picking on the lead track Pictures, through the refined elegance of Sophie and delicate melodies of See You Soon and finally The Boat, Lefwitch spell binds the listener with his soft heartfelt delivery.

The lead track has recently been chosen as the Hottest Record in the World on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show, you can watch the video to accompany that track here:

Soul singer Nathan Watson will be showcasing his extraordinary vocal prowess and song writing skills in a stripped down acoustic performance at The Garage, Highbury in London on Thursday, November 16th.

This unplugged show follows a hugely successful single launch for “Reach Out (You’ve Got A Friend)” at a sold out Jazz Cafe in October where he performed with his full band, The Sound.

Doors open on November 16th at 7pm and Nathan Watson takes to the stage at 8:15pm. The popular Belgium band Absynthe Minded are also on the bill. Guests must be 14+ to gain admission.

As an added bonus fans can get cheap entry to the garage show and pick up a free download of a Nathan song, “Loveline”, by joining Nathan’s mailing list at www.nathanwatsonmusic.com

A new EP from Nathan featuring various mixes of “Reach Out (You’ve Got A Friend)” plus new songs will be released next month.

Watson certainly has a story to tell, from falling from three stories as a child, to being hit round the head with a lump of wood, to being involved in a 70mph car crash, he’s lucky to still be around.

It was music that eventually came to the rescue for the singer as he grew older and started hanging with the wrong crowd. His Saturday job working in a studio with producer Steve Salvari was his salvation and he progressed from rap to soul before starting to write his own material and life on the straight and narrow followed on.

Nathan Watson is a good guy. He’s young, good-looking and he turned the corner just at the right time.

Having picked up the prestigious Make it, Break it (MIBI) award for the UK’s Best Young Songwriter, earning full marks from judges Chris Martin and Mark Radcliffe in the process, Natalie McCool was quickly signed up by legendary producer Steve Levine’s Hubris record label, while she was still studying at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.

A beguiling mix of acoustic innocence and pure voice, 22-year-old Natalie McCool is already tipped by many to break through nationally. Her debut EP, Shoot Shoot, promises to be one of the music highlights of the last quarter of this year.

Natalie also had the privilege of showcasing her songs while studying at LIPA to none other than Sir Paul McCartney, who incidentally, grabbed a guitar and played along to one of her songs, then found a silver sharpie and signed her guitar!

During her time at LIPA Natalie recruited her band and took to the road playing venues across the UK. Demonstrating a musical knowledge and guitar mastery and already hotly tipped as a ‘rising star’ by the BBC, “Natalie McCool is a must see for 2010. Go catch her before the rest of the world does”.

In this video Natalie McCool performs the lead track from her new EP Shoot Shoot live on the streets of London during the recent London Fashion Week.
