In response to Jo Hamilton’s website request for fans to ask her to perform in their own town or country, Italian fans have demanded that the songstress should visit them in their country, resulting two dates being arranged and planned for next weekend.

The dates are – 9th April – Hearts & Roses Festival, Milan and 10th April – Piazza Vittorio, Veneto.

The supremely talented Jo Hamilton became the first person in the world (other than the inventor) to play the airpiano, a new musical interface which allows playing and controlling software instruments simply by moving hands in the air.

She has performed using this latest technology in live shows broadcast from the studio to her fans the world over via the internet on two occasions, building a solid fanbase across the globe.

Her debut album Gown surprisingly slipped under the radar for many upon its release in 2010, but a re-issue in January 2011 saw the highly acclaimed album reaching a much wider audience, generating ever more interest in Jo’s incredible music.

The singer is about to unveil details of a Summer tour of ten Apple Stores in the USA, where she will perform exclusive city sets with the Air Piano.

Hamilton’s latest video to accompany the track There It Is has just been released, you can watch her stunning performance here:

The extensively travelled offspring of a Jamaican mother and Kenyan father, Jo’s primary schooling took place on the remote Isle of Skye and the nomadic nature of her family took her to Turkey, UAE, Cambodia, Sri Lanka and Kuwait during her youth.

Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band return to the road for the 12th All Starr tour. Joining Ringo Starr will be Rick Derringer on guitar, Richard Page on bass, Wally Palmar on guitar & harmonica, Edgar Winter on sax and keyboards, Gary Wright on keyboards and Gregg Bissonette on drums.

The twenty seven date tour kicks off in Kiev, Ukraine on 4th June, stopping in Russia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Latvia, Poland, Britain, France, Czech Republic, Italy, Holland and Germany before concluding in Vienna, Austria on 17th July.

Ringo Starr is one of the world’s brightest musical luminaries. He has enjoyed a successful and dynamic solo career as a singer, songwriter and drummer, an active musical collaborator and as an actor. Drawing inspiration from classic blues, soul, country, honky-tonk and rock ‘n’ roll, Ringo continues to play an important role in modern music with his solo recording and touring.

Ringo Starr’s music, as a solo artist and as a Beatle, is permeated with his personality. His warmth and humour, and his exceptional musicianship have given us songs we all know and love, including ‘It Don’t Come Easy’, ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’, ‘Yellow Submarine, ‘Don’t Pass Me By’, ‘Octopus’ Garden’, ‘Photograph’, ‘Back Off Boogaloo’, ‘You’re Sixteen (You’re Beautiful And You’re Mine)’, ‘Don’t Go Where the Road Don’t Go’, ‘The No No Song’ and ‘Never Without You’.

The All Starr Band has toured consistently since its inception in 1989. Based on the concept “everybody on stage is a star in their own right”, each concert sees Ringo performing songs from his solo and Beatles’ career and each Starr performing hits from their own careers. Over the years the revolving line up has included such stellar artists as Joe Walsh, Dr. John, Todd Rundgren, Timothy B. Schmidt, John Entwhistle, Peter Frampton, Sheila E., Rod Argent and Paul Carrack.

Returning to the stage for the 2011 tour are the six All Starr band members who toured with Ringo in 2010:

Rick Derringer is a noted rock guitarist, vocalist and entertainer who was just 17 when his band The McCoys recorded the No.1 hit ‘Hang On Sloopy’ in the summer of 1965, knocking ‘Yesterday’ by The Beatles from the top spot. He later played with both Edgar Winter and Johnny Winter and found further success with his hit single ‘Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo’ and with his eponymous band Derringer. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s he appeared on numerous albums with artists Alice Cooper, Richie Havens, Todd Rundgren, Cyndi Lauper, Barbra Streisand, Kiss and Steely Dan. In the mid-80’s, Derringer discovered Weird Al Yancovic, producing music for Grammy-winning albums and videos and the 2006 Grammy Awards brought Rick his third Grammy with his participation on the Les Paul 90th birthday tribute CD.

Born in the USA in 1953, Richard Page is best known as the singer/bassist for the multi-platinum, Grammy nominated group Mr. Mister. In the late 70’s and early 80’s Richard recorded three albums under the moniker of Pages with Steve George. Pages has retained a cult following in many areas of the world. The pair formed Mr Mister in the mid 80s. The band released three albums and had several world-wide hits, including ‘Broken Wings’ and ‘Kyrie’. They split in 1990 and a fourth Mr Mister album, PULL remained unreleased for 20 years. It has been remastered and is currently available on Richard’s own record label, Little Dume Records. Page has recorded two solo albums, Shelter Me and Peculiar Life, as well as providing backing vocals for artists such as Elton John, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Barbara Streisand and Elvis Costello among many more. As a songwriter Page has had songs recorded by Madonna, Leona Lewis, Josh Groban, Celine Dion and Hall & Oats to name just a few.

Wally Palmar, lead vocalist, harmonica, rhythm guitar player, and founding member of The Romantics, is amongst one of the most recognized voices of the 80’s. The group’s self-titled debut album yielded the hit ‘What I Like About You’, which carries on throughout the decades. Other singles include, ‘When I Look In Your Eyes’, ‘One in a Million’, and the international hit ‘Talking In Your Sleep’. The Romantics are continuously being re-introduced to new generations today via the extensive airplay on contemporary, rock and satellite radio, commercials and movie soundtracks. Never content to simply rest on his red-leathered laurels, Palmar continues to write, record and tour around the world with The Romantics.

Edgar Winter is an accomplished jazz, rock and blues keyboard player and saxophonist as well as a vocalist who found success in the early 70s and has continued to record throughout the 80s, 90s and 00s. Edgar has worked with noted guitarists Rick Derringer and Ronnie Montrose as well as his older brother Johnny Winter (a noted blues / rock guitarist). In 1972 Edgar had a #1 hit with the instrumental ‘Frankenstein’, taken from his acclaimed album They Only Come Out At Night. Edgar also enjoyed great success with the hit ‘Free Ride’ as well as ‘Dying To Live’ which Eminem produced for the hit movie ‘Tupac’. Edgar Winter’s songs have appeared on the soundtracks to over 20 films.

Over the course of his 40-year career which began in the UK with the rock band Spooky Tooth, Gary Wright has played before millions of fans and his music has appeared in blockbuster movies & TV shows as well as being played on radio every day. A pioneer of using synthesizers in pop music as heard on his worldwide hits ‘Dream Weaver’ and ‘Love Is Alive,’ Gary has inspired generations of mainstream artists including Eminem, Mya, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Anastacia and DJ Armand Van Helden all of whom have either sampled or covered his songs. Gary’s world-unifying vision and musical prowess were recently displayed on ‘Connected’ his first pop-rock album for 20 years. Gary joined the All Starr Band in 2008.

Drummer and vocalist Gregg Bissonette comes from a musical family, where his father was also a drummer, his mother a pianist and brother a bass player. Gregg played on three album by former Van Halen vocalist David Lee Roth, with the first Eat ‘Em And Smile one of the most acclaimed rock albums of the mid 80s. Since then Gregg has recorded and toured with a number of artists, including Toto, ELO, Santana, Andrea Bocelli and James Taylor. Having first worked and toured with Ringo Starr in 2003 (alongside his brother Matt on bass and vocals), Gregg has been an All Starr member since 2008 and this is his third tour as an All Starr.

Three piece US dance music makers Innerpartysystem have been announced as support for 3OH!3 on their upcoming European tour which arrives in the UK during May.

Having played two sold out shows in London recently Innerpartysystem simply can’t wait for the tour to kick off, having experienced the time of their lives supporting 3OH!3 on their 2008 tour of the USA.

Jared Piccone, drummer with the band says; “To date, one of the fondest memories we have had as a band was the 2 months we spent with 3Oh!3 back in 2008 touring America. Not only is round 2 going to happen, but it’s over Europe, including the mainland which we have only gotten to play but a handful of times. I’m excited to return to the few countries we have hit before, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and of course our home away from home, the UK. It will also be great to test the waters in some new countries that we haven’t gotten a chance to hit yet, like France, and the Netherlands.”

Never a band to shy away from mixing up their sound and aesthetic, Innerpartysystem have been experimenting with their set of late. They’ve been incorporating more and more programming elements and diversifying their setup on stage by occasionally omitting the live drums and having all members involved more fully on the electronic side.

Theirs is an evolving outfit yet Innerpartysystem are a band who will always purvey a full-on sound. Couple this intensity of sound with an unrelenting light show and you have the ultimate IPS live experience.

With a mini album of new material called Never Content on March 6th digitally and March 21st as a physical CD. The mini album is preceded by the release of the single American Trash which will be available from February 6th.

‘The Princess of Soul’ and nine time Grammy award winner Alicia Keys brings The Freedom Tour to the UK on May 19th at Birmingham National Indoor Arena.

Following one night in Ireland at the Dublin O2 Arena, Keys arrives back in the UK for a date in Glasgow, two nights in London and a final night in Manchester, all during the month of May.

Considering her popularity in the UK, five concert appearances just does not seem enough to me and Alicia Keys tickets are bound to be scarce, if not like gold dust.

The Freedom Tour was announced in December 2009 to coincide with the release of Alicia Keys fourth studio album, The Element of Freedom, at around the same time Keys was named as R&B/HipHop Artist of the Decade by Billboard magazine.

Keys explains the origins of the current tour show;

“The show is, obviously, always focused around music; that’s what is always my main focus. When we first start putting it all together, it all starts at the music, and then it’s what story that I want to tell and kind of what energy I want to give off. There’s going to be something for everyone in this show because that’s who I am, I am a person who feels things from all different angles and directions, and I’m going to express it that way … and that’s how I arm-wrestle people who are close-minded.”

Of the many and varied R&B concerts going on in the UK this year, Alicia Keys has to be the stand out artist on show and given the rarity of her shows in the UK, well worth making the effort to see.

Lady Gaga is currently performing the Monster Ball Tour in Japan, but the triple Brit Award winner is heading back to Europe in May and more specifically, arrives in the UK on May 27th to play the first of seven additional Arena dates in the UK.

For fans who were unable to get Lady Gaga tickets for the earlier shows in February and March this year, there will now be another chance of seeing the grand electro pop theatre, that is The Monster Ball Tour.

If you prefer to watch a show rather than an inanimate object on stage, then Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball will not disappoint. The Guardian described the spectacle earlier this year;

“While The Monster Ball has nothing on the great operas or the golden age of musical theatre, Lady Gaga’s ‘electro-pop opera’ is at least twice as entertaining and infinitely fresher than any stage musical written over the last decade.”

Lady Gaga says the 2010 concerts have been revamped from the original concept, “It’s still called Monster Ball, but it’s more of a musical and less of a concert. It has a New York theme, it’s a story, and the story is that me and my friends are in New York and we’re going to the Monster Ball, and we get lost.”

Lady Gaga – The Monster Ball Tour UK dates:

May 27, 2010     Nottingham      Trent FM Arena[C]
May 28, 2010 Birmingham LG Arena
May 30, 2010     London             The O2 Arena
May 31, 2010    London              The O2 Arena
June 3, 2010 Manchester Manchester Evening News Arena

Katie Melua returns with a brand new fourth album called The House, which is released on May 24th. The House is produced by William Orbit, famous for his work on Madonna’s album Ray of Light, his distinctive sound can be heard throughout the new album.

Famed for her ballads Katie does not disappoint with the delicacy of Red Balloons, wounded intrigue of I’d Love To Kill You, definitive love of No Fear Of Heights and tragic betrayal of the title track. And Katie’s interpretation of The One I Love Is Gone, written by ‘the father of bluegrass’ Bill Munroe, is simply stunning.

It is, perhaps, on the more up-tempo songs that Katie’s exciting creative trajectory is most apparent. Tiny Alien’’s charming off-kilter folk and the warped electro rock of God On The Drums, Devil On The Bass sit alongside the intoxicating brightness of A Happy Place and the Berlin-burlesque of A Moment of Madness. Meanwhile the hypnotic Twisted and orchestral-pop of Plague Of Love complement the epic insistence and drama of new single The Flood.

The Flood is released on May 17th, the track is one of six collaborations with Guy Chambers that appear on the album. Lauren Christy was also involved in the writing on The Flood and Katie says;

“I was in Los Angeles writing for a few days with Lauren. We worked on a piano melody that Guy had sent over and came up with the lyrics and topline for the first part of the song which, at that time, was a really nice ballad.” Back in London Katie and Guy wrote a number of songs together, including putting the final touches to The Flood.

The result is an unusual track that ebbs and flows before an unexpected tempo change kicks the song into a pulse-quickening, dance-pop-rhythm with a dramatic climax that leads to the record’s conclusion in the original tempo.

The Flood was one of the songs that Melua originally sent to William Orbit and he liked it enough to quit his self imposed retirement as a producer and welcome the singer into the studio to record the album with him. Orbit says;

“I was captivated by Katie’s voice when I first heard her demos in October last year and, although not having been involved in record production for some time, felt that I just had to work with her. It turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and a pleasure from start to finish. I have been hypnotised by the many colours and moods of her voice, and the deep emotional waters of her lyrics and melodies. She is one of the most complex and intriguing artists that I have ever worked with.”

The Flood has already received airplay on Radio 2, with presenter Janice Long declaring it as being “the best thing Katie’s done….”, and serves as an intriguing introduction to The House. Described as sonically epic and dramatic with an underlying thread of blues The House promises to draw a new audience whilst appealing to Katie’s many existing fans.

Here is a sneak preview from the album The House – Katie Melua

Katie Melua has announced an extensive European tour for autumn 2010 which will include 13 shows in Britain in December. She will also be playing at festivals and outdoor concerts this summer including Thetford Forest on July 10th.

“This is my first full tour since the My Love Is Your Love tour and I am so excited to be performing for my fans around the world after all this time. I am putting together a great show and cannot wait to perform the songs from my new album ‘I Look To You’, along with some of your favorites.”

The official tour commenced in February 2010, just days after the release of Houston’s 25th Anniversary edition of her debut album entitled Whitney Houston – The Deluxe Anniversary Edition.

Houston’s incredible rise to fame, becoming the original R&B diva, and her subsequent fall from grace following her marriage to Bobby Brown are well documented. She finally separated from Brown in 2006 and has spent the time since rebuilding her life and her career.

Her 2009 release I Look To You entered the Billboard Charts at number 1, her first number one since The Bodyguard and her first studio album to top the charts since 1987’s Whitney.

The Nothing But Love Tour reaches Europe on April 6th when Houston will perform in Paris, arriving in the UK on April 8th. The long wait to see the R&B diva performing again will soon be over, make sure to book your Whitney Houston tickets now and avoid missing one of the greats ‘live’ in the UK.

One of the biggest names from the nineties onslaught of R&B music, R Kelly has continued to make music and is still mixing it with the current top names in the genre, writing, performing and producing the music that he loves and again topping the R&B charts last year with his album Untitled, which is generally being hailed as a classic.

Now among the host of R&B/Urban/Soulstars from those early days who are back out on the road, R Kelly is heading into Europe for a series of shows that will see him performing his own sultry style of music in Germany, Netherlands France and Brussels, before hitting the UK for four shows in April.

Twenty years on and R Kelly has sold a staggering 50 million albums around the world and in the UK he has chalked up an unbelievable 30 hit singles throughout his career.
The multiple award winning Canadian singer Michael Buble is gearing up for his world tour in support of the album Crazy Love, which begins during March2010 in North America and will last into 2011.

The smooth entertainer will bring his Crazy Love show to the UK in May 2010, with concerts in Sheffield, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham and two nights at London’s O2 Arena. Buble will continue his tour into western Europe via France, Holland, Italy, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland.

Buble is currently working with production designers from the late Michael Jackson’s This Is It shows in London and he says of the upcoming tour;

“I’m gonna have a huge production, yeah, but I do not want to rely on lasers or pyrotechnics or a set to make my show entertaining. I think a good entertainer should be able to have a stool and a microphone and a glass of water and you should be able to entertain people. I think all the production should be a bonus. What I want to create is intimacy. You’re playing an arena and it can be so cavernous and cold; I want to make it really intimate. That’s the most important thing.”

An intimate evening is what is on offer then, if that’s what you fancy Michael Buble tickets are already on sale for the UK and European dates.

Meanwhile Buble has suggested that he will be re-issuing his latest album Crazy Love with some tracks left over from the recording sessions. Among them will be Hollywood Dead which will become the third single to be taken from the album. “That’s probably the best pop song I’ve ever been part of,” says Buble, who co-wrote the track with Toronto songwriter Robert Scott.

A release date for the re-issue has yet to be announced.
