For those unfamiliar with the name Imelda May, she is an Irish rocker with her own style, both musically and personally. Veering towards rockabilly and blues Imelda May has an unmistakable voice and is immediately recognisable by her jet black hair with a solitary curl and shock of blonde.

Her forthright style has earned her superstar status in her home country, where her debut album Love Tattoo has gone Triple Platinum. She has shared the stage with U2, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Jeff Beck, Scissor Sisters, Lionel Ritchie and most recently with the first lady of rockabilly Wanda Jackson.

Imelda May will be releasing a brand new album in September, called Mayhem and preceding that is the single Psycho which is released on June 28th.

Psycho sees Imelda displaying some of her more disparate influences, as if PJ Harvey’s “Sheela Na Gig” had been recorded in the Ace cafe in North London in front of a load of rockers.

Fresh from supporting Jeff Beck on a 7 date tour in the US, May will be performing at this weekend’s Glastonbury, followed by spots at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Cornbury Music Festival, WOMAD and the Hop Farm Festival.

There will also be live support acts, yet to be confirmed. Tickets for this second Brixton date are on sale for a very reasonable £23.50.
The band have also added an additional date on the tour, they will visit Bournemouth Academy on October 21st. Tickets for the shows will be priced at £20 (except London where the 2nd show will be £23.50) and are available for general sale via www.gigsandtours.com (for the English dates) & www.seetickets.com (for the Scottish dates).

Pete Doherty and Carl Barat who are both booked to perform at this weekend’s Glastonbury festival, could re-unite The Libertines by playing together at some point during the festival.

Reports from the Sun suggest that the former Libertines have been writing together and are keen to gauge the audience response to the new material. It is unclear at this stage whether it is likely that The Libertines will reform for anything more than a one off appearance.

Doherty formed Babyshambles and Barat formed Dirty Pretty Things when Barat could no longer bear to watch his friend Doherty self destruct, through his excessive use of drugs. It is believed that Dirty Pretty Things song Bang Bang Your Dead was written about Doherty.

Barat who has recovered from his recent illness, is hoping to be fit enough to play an accoustic set on Glastonbury’s left field stage on Sunday 29th June. Billy Bragg will join Barat for a few songs and the Sun say that an insider suggests that Doherty will also join Barat.

Pete Doherty is scheduled to headline on th Park stage on Friday 27th June.
