The bands debut Happiness entered the UK album charts at number 4 with over 25,000 sales making Hurts the UK’s fastest selling new band of 2010. They have now sold over 500,000 albums worldwide and in the UK, the album has been officially certified Gold.

Throughout Europe, Hurts also earned 14 top 10 iTunes positions including number one’s in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Finland and Luxembourg, and the album is now gold in the UK, Germany Russia, and Switzerland and Platinum in Poland.

Better Than Love was released as the bands first major single in May last year and has fast become a live favourite. Stated by Hurts as “dance music for depression”, Better Than Love is an upbeat yet dark single which will be released as a Double A Side alongside Illuminated. In stark contrast to Better Than Love, Illuminated is a slow and soft song that leads into a dramatic, emotive chorus.

Their single Wonderful Life has already had over 14 million online plays and in Europe has had great success with a number 1 airplay record in 5 countries to date including Germany, where the single has now sold over 400,000 copies and is certified Gold. Their success has also been matched in Poland where ‘Wonderful Life’ is also a Gold selling single.

Hurts ended 2010 with a bang after winning awards both in the UK and internationally. In Germany, they scooped the prestigious award for ‘Best International Newcomer’ at the Bambi’s (the German BAFTAs) and in the UK, The Sun awarded them the award for ‘Best Bizarre Session of 2010’. They also recently won the award for ‘Best New Band’ at the NME Awards and are nominated for Best International Newcomer at the Echo Awards in Germany next week.

Hurts are currently on a sell-out European tour following their sold out shows in the UK in February. They will be performing their first ever US show at Coachella next month followed by tour dates across Asia, before heading home for a busy summer of festival performances including V Festival, Isle of Wight, T in the Park, Oxegen and Dot To Dot.

The album which was written following a devastating break up, has been described as a ‘purging process’ for Blasko, the lyrics to her songs are deep and heartfelt despite the sweet uplifting melodies and warm dusky vocals.

No Turning Back is typically the set closer in Blasko’s captivating live performances and one can detect a brimming anger on the track, replacing her usual ethereal tones.

The track is accompanied by a sweet animated video, featuring the journey of a girl riding a penny farthing, continuing her journey no matter what obstacles are put in her way, with of course, No Turning Back.

Having supported fellow Aussies The Temper Trap on a UK tour in May, Sarah has continued to impress on her own with festival appearances at the likes of Secret Garden Party and The Great Escape.  With a performance at V Festival and a headline UK tour lined up for the Autumn, Sarah Blasko is quickly becoming the next best-kept secret in British music.

After setting out their stall with the album Parachutes, Coldplay’s cult following became mainstream with the release of their second album A Rush Of Blood To The Head in 2002 and the subsequent singles In My Place, Clocks and The Scientist.

In June 2008 Coldplay began their Viva La Vida tour with a free concert at Brixton Academy in London. They are currently appearing at European venues in Switzerland, Barcelona, Paris and Holland and return to the UK on Saturday September 11th with a gig at Lancashire County Cricket Club in Manchester.

The concert will be supported by Jay-Z who featured on the Coldplay single Lost.

I’m Not Over is the follow up to Carolina Liar’s June release of Show Me What I’m Looking For, a firm radio favourite making the playlists of the UK’s finest music stations including XFM, Radio One A List, Capital and Absolute.

A chance meeting in Sweden between Max Martin and Chad Wolfe, the band’s singer and songwriter, kick-started the process of Coming To Terms becoming the record it was always destined to be. Living in his car in Los Angeles and struggling to make ends meet, Chad was invited out to Stockholm for the summer by a friend – an offer he eagerly accepted. It was on this sojourn that he met Max Martin – a meeting that would end with Martin hearing (and loving) Chad’s songs. So impressed was Martin that he immediately passed a copy of Chad’s demos to a friend at Atlantic Records, and things finally began to take shape.

Martin is the man responsible for writing million selling songs that launched the careers of pop stars Pink, Britney Spears, Kate Perry and Kelly Clarkson amongst others, and quickly took on the production duties for Carolina Liar on the new album.

The result is Coming To Terms – a ridiculously accomplished debut, filled with hit singles.  As Martin’s phenomenal 17 year career clearly proves, the sound and face of music may change infinitely year-on-year, but the beauty of a pop hook never goes out of fashion. Coming To Terms is set to be one of the most unforgettable modern rock albums of this year.

Having wowed festival crowds at T in The Park, Oxygen and Wakefest the band are also set to perform at V festival this weekend August 22/23, with a further date at Edinburgh’s cabaret Voltaire on August 24.
