The supremely talented Jo Hamilton became the first person in the world (other than the inventor) to play the airpiano, a new musical interface which allows playing and controlling software instruments simply by moving hands in the air.

She has performed using this latest technology in live shows broadcast from the studio to her fans the world over via the internet on two occasions, building a solid fanbase across the globe.

Queen of R&B Beyonce is about to release a full length concert video, shot during her most recent international tour through Music World and Columbia Records on November 29th.

The ‘I Am…World Tour‘ kicked off in March 2009 and continued for almost a year, playing to more than 1.1 million fans collectively, at over one hundred shows in 32 countries across the world, ending in February 2010.

The DVD captures Beyonce’s tour journey, collecting footage from shows in various cities and merging them into one unmissable performance.

The film also features guest appearances from Kanye West and Jay-Z as well as rare behind the scenes footage where Beyonce gives her own personal account of this mammoth international concert experience.

alicia keys - the freedom tour

‘The Princess of Soul’ and nine time Grammy award winner Alicia Keys brings The Freedom Tour to the UK on May 19th at Birmingham National Indoor Arena.

Following one night in Ireland at the Dublin O2 Arena, Keys arrives back in the UK for a date in Glasgow, two nights in London and a final night in Manchester, all during the month of May.

Considering her  popularity in the UK, five concert appearances just does not seem enough to me and Alicia Keys tickets are bound to be scarce, if not like gold dust.

The Freedom Tour was announced in December 2009 to coincide with the release of Alicia Keys fourth studio album, The Element of Freedom, at around the same time Keys was named as R&B/HipHop Artist of the Decade by Billboard magazine.

Keys explains the origins of the current tour show;

“The show is, obviously, always focused around music; that’s what is always my main focus. When we first start putting it all together, it all starts at the music, and then it’s what story that I want to tell and kind of what energy I want to give off. There’s going to be something for everyone in this show because that’s who I am, I am a person who feels things from all different angles and directions, and I’m going to express it that way … and that’s how I arm-wrestle people who are close-minded.”

Lady Gaga is currently performing the Monster Ball Tour in Japan, but the triple Brit Award winner is heading back to Europe in May and more specifically, arrives in the UK on May 27th to play the first of seven additional Arena dates in the UK.

For fans who were unable to get Lady Gaga tickets for the earlier shows in February and March this year, there will now be another chance of seeing the grand electro pop theatre, that is The Monster Ball Tour.

In October 2009 Whitney Houston announced on her website that she was ready to take on the world again, publishing details of her upcoming Nothing But Love World Tour.

By way of introduction she stated;

“This is my first full tour since the My Love Is Your Love tour and I am so excited to be performing for my fans around the world after all this time. I am putting together a great show and cannot wait to perform the songs from my new album ‘I Look To You’, along with some of your favorites.”

The official tour commenced in February 2010, just days after the release of Houston’s 25th Anniversary edition of her debut album entitled Whitney Houston – The Deluxe Anniversary Edition.

Houston’s incredible rise to fame, becoming the original R&B diva, and her subsequent fall from grace following her marriage to Bobby Brown are well documented. She finally separated from Brown in 2006 and has spent the time since rebuilding her life and her career.

Her 2009 release I Look To You entered the Billboard Charts at number 1, her first number one since The Bodyguard and her first studio album to top the charts since 1987’s Whitney.

On her website Beyonce says that she will be adding Malaysia to her World tour, where she will perform in concert in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur in October.

Beyonce was forced to cancel her previous planned appearance in Malaysia in 2007, following opposition from the Islamic Party. The cause of the cancellation was described at the time as ’scheduling conflicts’.

There are no guarantee’s that the performance will get any further than the last as already protests have been voiced from Islamic Groups who aim to put pressure on the Malaysian government to stop the diva from appearing.

“We are against Western sexy performances. We don’t think our people need that,” said Sabki Yusof, youth leader of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party. So there are still doubts as to whether the concert will actually go ahead as planned.

No such problems for Beyonce fans in the UK where she is scheduled to play ten concerts across the UK and Ireland in November, starting on the eleventh in Liverpool and including two night’s at London’s O2 Arena and two more at the O2 Dublin. The tour will also visit Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham before the final date in Belfast on November 24th.

There are some top R & B Concerts lined up for the remainder of this year, including Bobby Brown and Chaka Khan, but above all Beyonce is the artist of the moment, having recently missed out on the best video at the MTV awards, Beyonce is still at the top of her game as she demonstrates on her current album I Am…Sasha Fierce.
