Welsh soul star Duffy is the latest singer to be linked with singing the theme song for the next James Bond movie Quantum Of Solace.
The opportunity to sing the theme song seems to have become something of a poison chalice, as it has already been linked with artists such as Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and more recently Leona Lewis.
Modern day Bond themes are generally forgettable affairs and may even be considered as the kiss of death by today’s current artist. The memorable tunes for me are ancient now, Shirley Bassey of course made the genre her own in the sixties with Goldfinger and Diamonds Are Forever.
Other notable Bond theme tunes include Live And Let Die by Wings, Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon from The Spy Who Loved Me and Nancy Sinatra’s You Only Live Twice.
It will be interesting to see if Duffy takes up the challenge.
