Duffy has become the first artist to sell a million copies of an album in the UK in 2008, while the Welsh singers song Mercy is the best selling single so far this year.

Her debut album Rockferry has in fact sold over 3million copies worldwide and was the first and only ‘new’ album on the US Billboard charts to go gold, for sales of 500,000.

Incredibly the video for Duffy’s single Mercy has recieved over 14 million hits in the UK and a further 3 million in the USA, fuelling sales of her album.

The next single to be taken from Rockferry will be Serious and it is released on August 25th. Here is a live recording of the track.
