Since releasing his debut single See You Again to critical acclaim in 2008, Matti Roots has been in the studio producing tracks for the likes of Wiley, remixing Justin Timberlake, making radio indents for Jaguar Skillz and generally being in great demand as a session musician.
To keep his hand in as a composer Roots has written advertising music for major telecoms firms as well as writing a musical.
Putting this bread & butter work on the back burner Roots committed to writing his own album last year. Gathering a clutch of the UKs finest musicians and input from top artists, the result is BeatRoot and the album will be released later this year.
As a sampler, Roots will release the up beat and feel good single OCD ahead of the album on July 26th as a digital download.
Like all the tracks on the album, OCD is written, produced, arranged and recorded by Matti Roots with all vocals, keyboards, saxophones and guitars performed by Matti himself. Lyrically, each one of his songs are based on a simple concept to which almost anyone can relate.
In OCD, we find Roots becoming a victim of an unhealthy love fixation, obsessing over her every move, trying to hack into her e-mail, trading dignity for desperation.
OCD is a top single and along with other tracks from BeatRoot can be heard on Matti Roots MySpace page ahead of a video release.
