Taken from the film soundtrack of Pineapple Express, Paper Planes is the excellent latest single from British rapper M.I.A.
Although I first heard this last week when it was sent over by a friend, it is already my favourite track of the moment. Making steady progress in the UK singles chart Paper Planes moved up to number 23 in yesterdays UK Top Forty.
Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam is the real name behind M.I.A, a songwriter, vocalist, producer and visual artist of Sri Lankan Tamil descent. Her debut album Arular was a 2005 Mercury prize nomination. Clever, sexy and cool, what more could you ask?
