Rumer will follow up the huge success of her debut single Slow, with a second track to be taken from the album Seasons Of My Soul, the bittersweet and deeply soulful Aretha. The new single is released on October 25th.
Aretha is Rumer’s cry for help from the one of her musical hero’s Aretha Franklin, who she felt was the only person she could turn to when she wrote this song and her mother was going through her own hard times at home.
As you would expect it is another superb and polished performance from Rumer, that will only further the acclaim being quite rightly lavished on upon this young singer/songwriter.
In my opinion this track showcases Rumer’s extraordinary vocal capabilities far better than the previous single, which is quite a feat. Here is a rich soulful voice that reminds me of Dusty Springfield’s more sensitive side mixed with a bit of Norah Jones.
Rumer – Aretha
The album Seasons Of My Soul will be released on November 1st and is already topping most pre-order charts. It really is among the most highly anticipated of this year without any doubt, Rumer really has got people listening, and they like what they are hearing.

October 2010
28 BBC Radio 2 Electric Proms (with Elton John, Leon Russell, Plan B)
November 2010
