Pete Doherty and Carl Barat who are both booked to perform at this weekend’s Glastonbury festival, could re-unite The Libertines by playing together at some point during the festival.
Reports from the Sun suggest that the former Libertines have been writing together and are keen to gauge the audience response to the new material. It is unclear at this stage whether it is likely that The Libertines will reform for anything more than a one off appearance.
Doherty formed Babyshambles and Barat formed Dirty Pretty Things when Barat could no longer bear to watch his friend Doherty self destruct, through his excessive use of drugs. It is believed that Dirty Pretty Things song Bang Bang Your Dead was written about Doherty.
Barat who has recovered from his recent illness, is hoping to be fit enough to play an accoustic set on Glastonbury’s left field stage on Sunday 29th June. Billy Bragg will join Barat for a few songs and the Sun say that an insider suggests that Doherty will also join Barat.
Pete Doherty is scheduled to headline on th Park stage on Friday 27th June.
