The Police originally split soon after recording their 1983 album Synchronicity, and announced a “Greatest Hits” world tour exactly a year ago. Now they have decided to split for good following another tour of the United States and Europe.
Last year’s reunion tour grossed more than £105 million – more than any other artist in 2007.
Sting, Andy Summers and Stuart Copeland have confirmed they will not be continuing to work together after 30 additional concerts in the United States in May and July, and a further 15 European shows in June, this summer.
The Police have also recently been announced to headline the last night of the 2008 Isle of Wight Festival on 15 June 2008, as well as headlining the Sunday night at Hard Rock Calling (previously called Hyde Park Calling) on the 29th June.
