Here is a round up of some of the latest artists from the pop music world that have announced UK tour dates for this year.
CYNDI LAUPER
The excellent Cyndi Lauper has announced just five dates for the UK. I was fortunate enough to see her play at the intimate Portsmouth Guildhall some years back now. I was already a fan but was mesmerised by such a powerful voice from such a small package! I would personally recommend these shows at small venues across the UK:
Bridgewater Hall MANCHESTER October 10th
Guildhall SOUTHAMPTON October 11th
Symphony Hall BIRMINGAM October 13th
Shepherds Bush Empire LONDON October 14th
Carling Academy GLASGOW October 16th
BLONDIE
OK, they are a bit long in the tooth these days, but if you fancy a musical stroll back to the late seventies and early eighties this has to be a worthy choice. Bound to include some of the many excellent songs from that period that you may have all but forgotten.
Carling Academy BRISTOL July 6th
Echo Arena LIVERPOOL July 22nd
Excel LONDON July 28th
DURAN DURAN
If you were a Duranie you will probably still have a soft spot for the band. It’s good that they have at least re united to make new records rather than just playing the old stuff- good as that is.
O2 Arena LONDON July 3rd
Echo Arena LIVERPOOL July 5th
FM Arena NOTTINGHAM July 6th
National Indoor Arena BIRMINGHAM July 7th
QUEEN with PAUL RODGERS
Queen without Freddie Mercury and John Deacon doesn’t seem right to me. I saw the original Queen play at a small venue in Southampton in 1975/6 and they were brilliant. Later in the eighties after the Live Aid show had kick started their career I saw then a couple of times at Wembley Stadium. Always impressive.
Not sure what to expect now days, but sure it would include a lot of the old material.
Trent FM Arena NOTTINGHAM October 10th
S.E.C.C GLASGOW October 11th
O2 Arena LONDON October 13th
International Arena CARDIFF October 14th
Nat. Indoor Arena BIRMINGHAM October 16th
Echo Arena LIVERPOOL October 18th
This is just a few of the many pop artists touring this year. I will try to make this a regular feature on a weekly basis.
