One of the breaking US artists of the moment is nineteen year old Jason Derulo who releases his debut single Whatcha Say on November 16th, the track is currently Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills’ record of the week.
Having already enjoyed songwriting success contributing material to artists such as Lil Wayne, Sean Kingston, Cassie, Donnie Klang, Birdman, Iyaz and Danity Kane, Derulo has decided to record his own material and is currently working in Los Angeles on a new album.
Whatcha Say has already reached #4 on the American iTunes chart as Derulo embarked upon a nationwide radio promo tour which has reached over 120 leading stations. The single has also received over 3 million views across various unofficial YouTube videos and over 14million plays on Derulo’s mySpace page.
Whatcha Say blends pounding beats and Derulo’s rich, soulful vocal style with an immediately infectious pop hook and a sample from Imogen Heap’s ‘Hide And Seek.’ Check out the video below:
