London rapper Zolo found fame in the US as part of the band Doughla City, where he was known as ‘Dollar Bill’. The trio had a couple of hits, ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Mechanic’ and provided tour support for the likes of Julez Santana, Rick Ross and Guerilla Joe.
Just as their appeal began to spread across North America and Canada the band split, to pursue their separate dreams.
Zolo, who had dealt with the separation and divorce of his parents while growing up soon had to deal with more personal adversity with the loss of his father. During this hard time the singer was able to focus on developing his music. He found a way to express his feelings through music and with the support of Kurt Gentles from Ontime Music Group the new Zolo was born.
The debut single Computer Freak is an amusing and upbeat take on the perils of socialising on the internet and perversely is already a huge internet hit. The talented twenty-year old fuses R&B, Hip Hop and Dance flavours to bring this digital age rap to life for the radio and UK dancefloors alike!
