Despite or because of the fact that Perry’s single spent so long at the top of the charts in Australia and USA, I have managed to avoid hearing it until this week.

What is happening to the charts these days?

For anyone fortunate enough to have missed hearing this single, here is a chance to hear it now. Even the video is bad!

Britney opened the proceedings last year with a lip-synched performance of Gimme More, but appeared in dreadful shape and her performance was slated as an ‘embarrassment’. The report suggests that organisers of the bash are ready to give Spears a chance to redeem herself at this years show.

A ’source’ told Now, “Britney’s transformation has been dramatic. After last year, when she turned up to the VMAs and put on an amateur show, we’ve got high hopes that she’ll really impress this year.”

The MTV Video Music awards take place on September 7th and will be hosted by Russell Brand.

Here is a clip of Britney ’s 2007 performance at the MTV VM Awards

But if it ends up like it did in 2003 I won’t be complaining.

Commenting on the leak, Muse said: “The MP3 floating around on the message boards at the moment is a track we recorded with Mike Skinner a few months ago.
The track was the result of a late-night jam session and something we did for a bit of a laugh featuring a blues riff we have been playing live recently upon which Skinner recorded some vocals. It is not intended to be a serious release so we are happy for it to be leaked around unofficially. Hope you enjoy. Cheers, Matt, Dom & Chris.”

Have a listen and see what you think.

American rocker Kid Rock has scored his first UK number one with the truly awful All Summer Long.

The song has found it’s way to the top of the UK chart, having already topped the charts in Ireland for the second week.

This track makes me think of a poor mans Summer Of ‘69 by Bryan Adams, but without the originality of Adams hit. Kid Rock finds his inspiration in the piano chords from Warren Zevon’s Werewolves of London and the hook from Sweet Home Alabama.

But the songwriting is pretty abysmal and I am amazed at how this track ever got released.
