Twenty year old Londoner Florence Rawlings was so excited at being asked to support Tom Jones on his European tour that she crashed her car into the back of a bus on hearing the news!

“I’d just found out that I’d been asked to support Tom Jones on his tour and was driving to see a friend,” she said. “I was so excited and distracted that I drove into the back of a bus and wrote my car off!”

Rawlings will open for Tom Jones on the 33 date European tour which kicked off on Sunday in Helsinki and includes a dozen UK dates starting with three night’s in Cardiff from October 9th.

Despite her early age Rawlings has already performed at some high profile gigs including the Isle Of Wight Festival, O2 Wireless, Stuttgart Jazz Festival, Guilfest and as support for the Booker T gig in Shepherds Bush.

Described perhaps rather lazily as a ‘blue eyed soul singer set for bigger things’ by Mojo magazine, Rawlings will perform songs from her debut album A Fool In Love,  in her set supporting Jones. The album is available now, have a listen to the excerpts on Florence Rawlings MySpace page.

Rawlings has revealed that she will be celebrating her 21st birthday on Saturday 26th September when she will perform in front of 15,000 people in Malmo, an amazing birthday present that she will undoubtedly cherish for life.
